Slow Economy
Driving Streaming Onto Corporate Networks

Markets for Multimedia Broadband

Report Price: $2,995 USD
We believe that the slowing global economy is driving applications
for streaming media onto corporate networks. Travel budgets have
been slashed, head counts are down, and competition for customer
dollars is increasing. As high-speed corporate networks extend beyond
office buildings and into Metropolitan Area Networks using optical
Ethernet, corporations will have a strategic asset in their networks,
which is best leveraged by keeping all employees "at the top
of their game" all the time, using interactive streaming media
applications to communicate, train, motivate and retain their best
workers.
Companies will be able to choose to "build their own"
streaming media services, creating on-line training and communications
packages. However, the best time-to-market is obtained by working
with an outside streaming media service provider, who brings extensive
hosting infrastructure, digital asset management capabilities, and
a variety of other services that help companies get the "best
bang for the buck" from streaming. Over 21 thousand corporate
sites will be on-line during 2001, and the number grows by a factor
of 10 to more than 225 thousand sites paying fees for streaming
media services during 2005. Our worldwide forecasts for revenues
being paid to companies that provide streaming media services will
surpass $5 Billion (U.S.) per year by 2005.
