The issues of interoperability, functionality, and user applications have been important for the Bluetooth market. The goal of this report was to experience using a variety of Bluetooth products from a user’s perspective, and to evaluate the results. Factors that were considered in the evaluations include the following:

- How some of the Bluetooth products worked
- How easy it was to install the hardware and software
- How easy it was to initially set up the software
- After setup, how easy it was to use various functions
- Were additional user applications included
- If the products would interoperate with other brands of Bluetooth products
- Whether or not certain functions were not supported at this time

The primary goal was to play the part of a user, or consumer, by installing the Bluetooth hardware and software, and use various functions that the products and applications would be expected to perform.

These product experiences have been rated on a “Bluetooth experience scale.” This scale ranges in rating from 1 “blue tooth” to 5 “blue teeth.” All hardware products tested were either Bluetooth 1.0b + CE or 1.1 versions.
