Access Anytime, Anywhere: Bluetooth Will “Make it So”!

Services: Multimedia, Multimedia & Interface Technologies
Report Number: MM01-06BW
Publication Date: April 2001
Number of Pages: 149
Report Price: $3,995 USD

In keeping with the Star Trek theme, we believe that Bluetooth will definitely "Make it So" when it comes to enabling access to information anytime, anywhere! More silicon is ready, and more products are coming to the market, all positive signs. One can hear the thunderous sound of the coming Bluetooth stampede, a behemoth movement that is on a roll!

Even considering the delays that have been experienced, and the economy problems this year, this emerging market will shine. The Bluetooth-enabled equipment shipments will still climb to 955 million units in 2005. Bluetooth radio and baseband silicon will rise to $4.4 billion in 2005.

This report forecasts the rollout of Bluetooth-enabled equipment through 2005, detailing that forecast into 14 major categories and 25 total segmentations, and discussing those application areas. Competitors are listed within each application area, and the section on access points has been greatly expanded due to the extreme interest and activity in “hot spot” applications. A geographic region forecast has also been added. Equipment and application vendors are profiled, focusing on the Bluetooth products they are bringing to market. In addition, we present Class 1 vs 2/3 segmentations for both equipment and silicon.

The report provides our detailed 5-year forecast for radio, baseband, and host-supported functional silicon solutions, semiconductor player profiles, and selected software issues and IP/design/protocol stack players.
