David Chamberlain is a Principal Analyst covering Wireless and Cellular Devices for In-Stat (www.in-stat.com) and is a member of the Personal and Mobile Devices team. Along with handset forecasts, Chamberlain covers mobile devices such as smartphones, the iPhone and cellular devices used for navigation, mobile video, financial transactions, messaging and other specialized services. He also contributes research and analysis on mobile consumer applications including mobile advertising, mobile video and dual-mode cellular/Wi-Fi services and is a presenter in webinars on mobile multimedia. A member of the wireless data industry since 1993, Mr. Chamberlain’s industry background includes consulting assignments with Clearnet (Canada) and Ameritech's launch of CDPD. He has had hands-on contact with equipment, network operations, sales and customer care functions at wireless carriers. He was a Principal Analyst with Alloy Research and spent several years directing the Wireless Internet Services and Networks service for Probe Research. As an author, he wrote Wireless Data Networks: A Guide to Mobile Computing (1998) as well as articles on wireless customer support and E911. He has frequently provided analyst viewpoints on mobile video, Wi-Fi, smartphones and 3G to mainstream media such as the Fox News, the Associated Press, Forbes and USA Today as well as numerous industry publications. Chamberlain earned degrees in Telecommunications from Michigan State University and Automotive Technology from Ferris State University.
