Summary
Over the past several years Wi-Fi has appeared in a greater number of entertainment devices, from cameras to gaming devices (handheld and consoles), to Personal Media Players (PMPs). Across these four categories, shipments have increased from 83.0 million in 2007 to 119.3 million units in 2009. This growth trend is expected to continue, with total shipments growing to 216.4 million by 2013. Handheld gaming devices account for the largest portion of these shipments followed by gaming consoles.

While a growing number of entertainment devices have Wi-Fi embedded, relatively few companies are dominating the market. Most product categories only have a few players, often with a single company dominating the market. For gaming consoles and gaming devices, Nintendo dominates the market. In the PMP market, Apple is dominating sales with the iPod Touch.

“Wi-Fi in Entertainment Devices: Wi-Fi Becomes the Multimedia Interface of Choice” addresses the market for Wi-Fi-enabled devices in the PMP, handheld games, game console, and digital camera markets and provides the following:
 -Market analysis
 -Market shares by product category
 -Product models containing Wi-Fi
 -Market estimates and forecasts

Summary
In-flight broadband, since the days of Connexion by Boeing, has struggled to take off. Recently, the market has received new impetus, with a new generation of in-flight broadband providers, including Aircell, Row44, and Panasonic. While these providers have encountered barriers in introducing in-flight broadband over the past year, it appears that many of these have been overcome and now these providers are ready to begin large scale deployments. Several US airlines have committed to full fleet deployments, including American, Delta, and Southwest. While the economy continues to place pressure on the market, airlines appear to be planning beyond the current environment in making investments for in-flight communication technologies, such as
in-flight broadband. This service will also have to compete with other emerging in-flight entertainment and communication services, such as DBS video offerings and GSM-based voice and data services (in international markets).

 This report includes:
-Forecasts of broadband and DBS video, including installments, equipment revenues, usage, and usage revenues, with segmentation regarding the length of the flights.
-Expectations of in-flight IPTV introduction and ensuing revenue.
-Detailed comparisons of principal players, in terms of technologies, business models, and market share.
-Correlations with the hotspot market and strategies learned from terrestrial Wi-Fi services that can be applied to the in-flight market.
