The Evolution of Mobile Processing Architectures

The battle for mobile market share is heating up, as store shelves start filling with new mobile devices that bring together all-in-one communications, computing, and consumer electronics functionalities. Many new converged devices were showcased this year at the Consumer Electronic Show, Mobile World Congress and Computex, and we continue to see more unveiled. As these devices grow in popularity, manufacturers face the challenge of designing unique hardware and software solutions that support new features and higher performance, while remaining power and cost efficient.

Please join TI and In-Stat for part three of our six-part webinar series, examining how to combat technical challenges involved in designing next-generation mobile devices. We focused specifically on the evolution of mobile processor technology. Some key topics addressed:

  • Advancements in mobile processor architecture
  • Roles of new technologies and system design, including symmetric multiprocessing and multicore architecture
  • Importance of software to overall mobile device design
  • Understanding criteria for selecting advanced, differentiated architectures

The webinar was hosted by Jim McGregor, chief technology strategist of In-Stat’s mobile Internet group. With more than 20 years experience in the high-tech industry, Jim brings a wealth of experience and a vision for the future of the mobile market. Joining Jim were Brian Carlson, strategic marketing manager of TI’s wireless business unit, and John Goodacre, director of program management for ARM’s processor division.

Other webinars in the series will include:

Registration for the webinar series is available at http://events.variview.net/clients/ti/20090624.
