Breaking Down Challenges in Open Source -Tricks of the Trade

As the market for media-rich mobile devices grows, so do the options for open source software. Open source operating systems (OS) like Android, LiMo, Maemo, and Symbian, offer the promise of cost effective software solutions, standardization, and a vast army of software developers who continually push innovation. These promises, however, are accompanied by the challenges of selecting and developing on platforms that offer the highest return at the lowest possible risk.

Please join TI and In-Stat in the fourth installment in our six part webinar series as we discuss technical challenges involved in designing next-generation mobile devices. We will examine how to effectively leverage an open source software environment by addressing the following topics, followed by a live question and answer session:

  • Where to start: What it takes to incubate an open development board
  • Technical deep dive: Key roadblocks with Android, and how to overcome them
  • A full tool set: What’s needed to reduce risks and grow investments in open source

The webinar was hosted by Jim McGregor, chief technology strategist of In-Stat’s mobile Internet group. Joining Jim was Jason Kridner, open platforms principal architect for TI’s Catalog group, and Eric Thomas, Linux product marketing manager for TI’s wireless group

Other webinars in the series will include:
