Abstract
Consumer Video Subscription Services Over IP Networks are more than just movie and TV shows.
Sports video subscription services are emerging as a strong niche in sports leagues, and sports TV networks can deliver video over the Internet as a means to boost ticket sales or TV viewership. Also, as an attraction to get consumers to visit their web site and purchase merchandise,
General Interest Video Subscription Services are evolving into a straightforward “upgrade” service for broadband service providers.

The “Other” Video Subscription Services are evolving and adapting to changing technologies and newly emerging market conditions. Microsoft’s MSN has inaugurated a deal with Major League Baseball to provide “content” from baseball games, delivered as a subscription service to broadband subscribers. New handheld Portable Media Center products will create strong market growth for these “other” service models.

The annual value of Consumer Video Subscription Services delivered over Internet Protocol networks will grow to $4.6 Billion (US) during 2008.
