Abstract
This report provides size of business and vertical industry perspectives of market statistics on the number of firms, establishments, and employees in the US business market. The research also provides data on the primary work environments of employees in this market, including the number of telecommuters, Internet-accessing telecommuters, and remote branch offices. Detailed five-year forecasts are included for all US business demographics, along with a discussion of current market trends.

Despite world events, the US economy appears to be continually improving. The leading indicators look good after the first quarter and well into the second. Employment is up, inventories are low and consumer spending is holding. Though the current economic environment in the US is not ideal and the overall global economy remains fragile, much needed signs of improvement are readily apparent and IT decision-makers are responding to this. In this vein, by year’s end, the US business market is expected to experience growth in both firms and employment – particularly among smaller companies - and will see continued changes in the fragmentation of the overall workforce.
