Abstract
This report presents a comprehensive analysis of the embedded Field-Programmable Gate Array (eFPGA) market. That is to say, designs that include pre-defined blocks of FPGA, along with other functions, such as memory and logic, in a cell-based design will see their worldwide revenues increase from $10.9 million in 2003 to over $807.4 million by 2008, primarily via the emergence of the single-chip development platform. That translates to a compound annual growth rate, 2003-2008, of 136.6%. Not bad.
 End-use consumption of products designed using this technology is examined in detail for major end-use markets; Electronic Data Processing (EDP), communications, consumer, industrial, and military/automotive. The EDP, communications, consumer and industrial markets are also detailed one level further, such as networks, switches, servers, set-top boxes, etc. Geographic consumption for each of the four major regions, The Americas, Europe, Japan and Asia Pacific is also explored, as is operating voltage, programming architecture, packaging and mixed-signal content.
 This report further explores, down to the embedded functional level, i.e., SRAM, DRAM, MPU, DSP, analog, etc., functions that will be included within the design along with the embedded FPGA.
