Abstract
This report is based on a phone survey of home network users and prospective home network users completed in November 2003. The survey examines behavior of home network owners around applications, purchasing behavior, and feelings about advanced home network applications. It also examines behavior of those intending to purchase a home network. The survey also compares responses with a previous survey.

Some of the findings from this report are:

 · WLAN is the fastest growing technology, nearly even in total current installations with Ethernet, and leading by nearly 3 to 1 as the leading technology choice for those intending to install a home network
 · Over 85% of those in our survey with a home network use some form of home router, compared with 78% of those surveyed 18 months prior. This shows that home routers have become the primary home networking switch technology
 · 83% of those with a home network use it to share a broadband connection on a daily basis, making this the dominant application, by a 2 to 1 margin, over printer sharing
 · Interest in entertainment networking is growing, with over 50% of those with a home network, or intending to buy a home network, showing strong interest in networked digital audio, and just under 50% in networked video
