Abstract
This report takes a deep dive look into the demographics of the healthcare vertical. Data, such as the number of firms and employment, is forecast thru 2008 and broken down by sub-segment and by size of business, including SOHO, small business, middle market, and enterprise. Hospitals, Dental Practices, Physician Practices, and other health care services are the sub-segments covered in this study.

The healthcare industry has been in a state of flux for several years now. With the US population aging and obesity on the rise, expenditures on health services have more than doubled in the last decade. Though the consolidation that was rampant in the mid-1990’s has slowed dramatically after the turn of the century, the healthcare industry is still evolving. The largest firms in this segment are under pressure to maintain competitive advantage and are actively seeking new technologies to improve practitioner’s access to, and sharing of, information, as well as to meet the government standards for data handling.
