Abstract
This report takes a deep dive look at the trends and expenditures in the Education industry, both K-12 and higher education. Both wireline and wireless services and equipment spending are forecast out into 2008. Along with the overall forecasts, spending is broken down by K-12 and higher education, as well as shown by telecom category. Telecom categories include wireline voice, wireless voice, wireline data, wireless data, wireline equipment, and wireless equipment. Other data, based on a July 2004 survey, provided includes business problems, priorities, IT perceptions, and purchasing channels.

Despite average school spending decreases this year, overall IT spending in the education vertical is expected to reach a 3.4% annual growth from 2003 to 2008. This vertical has become one of the most sought out verticals in the telecommunications and IT industries. Both K-12 and higher education segments have increased the need for networking resources, software, telecommunications, and high-speed Internet. The truth is education is relying more and more on technology as a tool for teaching and as a resource for the learning experience.
