Abstract
This report takes a deep dive look into the network hardware trends and expenditures in the financial services vertical. Network hardware categories include network interface cards, modems, hubs, routers, LAN switches, and remote access servers. Expenditure forecasts are provided for 2003 to 2008. Other data includes survey feedback on planned network investments, top networking priorities over the next twelve months, and current networking vendors of financial decision-makers. Also included, is feedback on these decision-makers' willingness to purchase networking products through retailers and on-line stores.

Financial networks continue to demand greater security, manageability, and efficiencies, including the networks running within banks, investment houses, credit firms, and financial businesses. The finance vertical, as well as many other verticals, are struggling to connect and secure the disparate pieces of their growing company networks in an efficient and manageable way. At the same time, this vertical (including small to large firms) is looking to gain advantage and/or cost savings by migrating from traditional TDM voice solutions to IP telephony.
