Abstract
This report takes a deep dive look into the network hardware trends and expenditures in the professional services vertical (Engineering, Legal, Consulting, Accounting, Business Services Firms). Network hardware categories include network interface cards, modems, hubs, routers, LAN switches, and remote access servers. Expenditure forecasts are provided for 2003 to 2008. Other data includes survey feedback on planned network investments, top networking priorities over the next twelve months, and current networking vendors of financial decision-makers. Also included, is feedback on these decision-makers' willingness to purchase networking products through retailers and on-line stores.

The professional services vertical is expected to spend an estimated $6.3 billion on network hardware this year. This equates to roughly 9% annual growth from 2003 expenditures. By 2008, network hardware spending by this vertical is expected to climb to just under $9.0 billion. While the business services sub-segment appears to be the largest spender on network hardware, In-Stat/MDR estimates that the legal services sub-segment will experience the highest expenditure growth into 2008.
