Abstract
This deep dive study takes a closer look at the telecom spending in the healthcare vertical. Telecom spending includes both services and equipment, as well as wireline and wireless. Both voice and data services are covered in this study, along with the telecom and market trends. Survey data on areas such as spending priorities, IP investment, purchasing channels, and vendor relationships is also included in this report.

In the midst of this slowly progressing economy and an increasingly challenging competitive environment, the healthcare vertical has created great opportunities for telecom vendors and has also remained a leading industry in telecom services and equipment spending. Telecommunications has continued to play an important role in the medical arena, including in such areas as administration, staff communications, patient monitoring, patient scheduling, prescription management, diagnostics, imaging, and patient services. Healthcare telecom decision-makers are becoming more tech-savvy, especially in the areas of IP telephony and wireless communications. All of this has led to a growing opportunity in the healthcare vertical, as well as pressured telecom vendors to develop customized telecom solutions that aid in specific medical applications.
