Abstract
This report takes a deep dive look at the trends and expenditures in the professional services vertical. This vertical includes engineering/consulting, legal service, and business service firms. Telecom services and equipment is forecast to 2008 for the total market and for specific size segments, as well as telecom categories such as wireline voice, wireless voice, wireless data, wireline data, wireline equipment, and wireless equipment. Other than the forecasts; spending priorities, critical business challenges, purchasing channels, and other trending data are provided based on a recent 2004 survey.

Professional services firms, such as engineering and consulting firms, are investing more of their telecom budgets on edge connectivity, wireless and remote access, including “low-end” services, like broadband, which will put more pressure on major providers (particularly the incumbents) to offer consistent, and standardize, service offerings across the varying footprints of these customers. However, these customers are worth any extra expense, as the professional services market is expected to spend more than $23 billion on telecom services and equipment this year, and, by 2008, this is expected to reach $35 billion.
