Abstract
This report takes a deep dive look into the telecom trends and expenditures in the education vertical, both K-12 and higher education. Telecom forecasts by segment and by telecom category are provided. Segments include K-12 and higher education, while categories include wireline voice, wireline data, wireless voice, wireless data, wireline equipment, and wireless equipment. Survey data from educational decision-makers is also available on topics such as IP perceptions, investment priorities, buying channel influencers, and telecom priorities.

The education vertical continues to be a leader in advanced telecommunications and utilizes technology solutions in the areas of administration, as a learning tool, for security purposes, general communications, multimedia applications, and for many other areas in the learning environment as well. Major areas of growth and opportunity include Wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs) or hotspot equipment, high-speed data services, security solutions, Internet protocol communications, and wireless voice and data services. This vertical continues to be a leader in technology and is even on the forefront of IP adoption, especially in the higher education space. It is important, however, to understand the key differing needs between the K-12 and higher education segments.
