| Share of Wallet?: Telecom Trends and
Expenditures in the US Government Industry |
 |
This report takes a deep dive look into
the telecom trends and expenditures in the government vertical, including
federal, state, and local segments. Telecom expenditures and forecasts
in wireline voice, wireless voice, wireline data, wireless data, wireline
equipment, and wireless equipment are available from 2003 to 2008.
Government decision-makers were also surveyed for this study. Results
include feedback on IP perceptions, purchasing channel influencers,
investment priorities, and telecom trends.
This year, the government vertical is expected to spend almost
$26 billion on telecom services and equipment, both on wireline and
wireless. Annual growth will remain in the 3% to 6% range, which is
still significant for this vertical compared to historical figures.
By 2008, expenditures are expected to reach an estimated $31 billion,
with the heaviest growth occurring in the state and local government
segments. Both wireless data and wireless equipment are expected to
see high growth, as well as wireline data services in the near-term.
