Abstract
This report takes a deep dive look into the wireline and wireless telecom trends and expenditures in the manufacturing vertical. Both wireline and wireless is covered in services and equipment. Further breakouts are displayed by size of business, including SOHO, Small, Medium, and Enterprise. Other details, based on survey data, include spending priorities, critical business problems, purchasing channels, and perceptions of IP telephony.

Compared to other large industries, such as Finance and Government, the manufacturing industry has been one of the hardest hit in terms of employment, firms, and revenues. Despite the past several years of decline, the future looks much brighter for the manufacturing vertical. The perceptions on the economy and the industry itself are much more positive compared to last year and the year prior. Spending is also picking up in this industry, which further boosts the need for telecom services and technology expansion. This vertical will, however, be quite conservative and demanding regarding telecom expenditures and technology deployment. Expenditures will have to be justified and demonstrate actual returns on investment, as well as provide the benefit of improving processes or efficiencies in the manufacturing plant or operation.
