| Share of Wallet?: Telecom Trends and
Expenditures in the US Construction Industry |
 |
The report takes a deep dive look into
the wireline and wireless trends and expenditures in the construction
vertical. Both wireline and wireless services and equipment spending
forecasts are available from 2003 thru 2008. Other relevant data,
based on a July 2004 survey, includes feedback on critical business
problems, spending priorities, perceptions on IP telephony, and purchasing
channel preferences. SOHO, Small, Middle Market, and Enterprise size
segments are broken down by the telecom segment and by total market
spending. Telecom segments include wireline voice, wireless voice,
wireline data, wireless data, wireline equipment, and wireless equipment.
By 2008, this vertical is expected to spend roughly $10.3 billion
on telecommunications services and equipment. The small business construction
segment, those firms with 5 to 99 employees, is expected to see the
strongest growth over the next five years. Wireless services continue
to play a major role in the construction workers' day-to-day operations.
In fact, roughly 40% of total telecom spending by this vertical is
for wireless voice and data services. Another major expenditure for
this vertical is in wireline data, as these firms upgrade and update
wireline data networks to accommodate for better security and remote
communications. |
