| Understanding Decision-makers' and Decision-influencers'
Dual Roles in the Implementation of Wireless Data in the Business Environment:
Small Business Addendum |
 |
|
This report is an addendum to a recent multi-client
study, Understanding Decision-makers’ and Decision-influencers’ Dual Roles in
the Implementation of Wireless Data in the Business Environment. This addendum
focuses on understanding the small business market – those companies with 5 to
99 employees – regarding their wireless data implementations and future plans.
This study provides a great level of detail, looking at current wireless data
users versus planners. It also provides data by company size (i.e., those with
5 to 9, 10 to 19, and 20 to 99 employees). Issues covered in this report include:
mobile workers, wireless data (WWAN, enterprise wireless LAN and Public LAN/hotspot
services – with an emphasis on the WWAN) services used, usage and plans for wireless
VoIP, carriers subscribed to for wireless voice and data, decision-making process
and attributes used in service provider selection, average bills per employee,
bill payment methods, demand for other services (e.g. technical support); device
type usage (e.g. PDAs, notebooks, two-way messaging devices); and current use
and plans for wireless data applications on PDAs and notebooks (separately). It
also discusses percentage of IT budgets dedicated to wireless data, and identifies
where the funding for wireless data actually comes from within an organization.
A very detailed, 70+-chart Powerpoint presentation accompanies this report, and
contains additional information that is not detailed in this study. |
