Abstract
This study takes a deep dive look into the IT trends and expenditures in the insurance vertical. IT spending includes total and segment forecasts into 2008 in segments such as IT personnel, telecom services and equipment, computer hardware, network hardware, applications, and outsourcing/hosting. Other research included is survey feedback on perceptions of the economy, perceptions on operating performance, priorities in spending, purchasing channels, and buying influences.

The insurance industry is an upcoming growth vertical for many in the telecom and IT industry. The insurance industry is unique in that it works very closely with some of the largest verticals such as healthcare, government, transportation, and, of course, finance. Many in the telecom industry are branching insurance out of their finance vertical focus, and are identifying this as a core growth vertical, especially in terms of future telecom and IT spending. This year alone, the insurance industry is expected to spend $19 billion on IT products and services, including telecom, applications, computer hardware, network hardware, IT personnel, and outsourcing/hosting.
